The Olympics start next Friday and I was just checking out TV listings and noticed something interesting..
Living 18 miles south of Canada, I get a few Canadian networks on TV.
NBC is showing the opening ceremony next Friday at 8 p.m. By that time it will have aired TWICE on Canadian TV, which is showing it live at 7 a.m. and re-airing it again at 6 p.m.
This is typical however. I remember watching Nancy and Tonya skate about 12 hours before CBS aired it in 1994..one of the RARE times I actually watched skating on TV, just wanted to see if someone would be whacked again.

Why would I?
The whole point of the Olympics is to not bring up the world's problems and get together as countries and enjoy sports competition.
That's why in past history it was traditional for warring countries to stop their fight for 2 weeks during the games.
Besides it serves no purpose. What did we get in 1980 out of Carter's moronic decision? Only that 1000's of athletes who worked hard for four years had their dream dashed and then our own Olympics in 1984 got ruined by the same thing as retribution.
Boycotting the Olympics, even as a viewer, achieves nothing. Besides, having the Olympics in China has HELPED bring up a lot of issues that were not getting anywhere near as much attention in the US as prior to the games.
I watch the Olympics to enjoy a good sports competition.
Me watching someone win the gold in the 100 isn't going to have a positive or negative affect on Hong Kong, Darfur, Taiwan, etc.
