When will they ever learn?

PBS has some new show that claims lot of the old testament is fairy tales, so to speak.

Here is my favorite line in this stupid article:
The entire Exodus story is debunked, as is the idea that the Israelites were monotheistic following the contract made between God and Abraham. It turns out idol worship was common through the reign of King David and right up to the Babylonian exile.

NOW, I never went to seminary or anything, but even I know, just from reading Exodus-2 Kings that idol worship WAS common in Israel. That's why God kept having to punish them constantly. Pretty much from the reign of Joshua through Solomon and beyond it was common.

If that's their big selling point of why this show will be groundbreaking, I don't see it frankly.

I also like this line:
Is the Bible the word of God? Only if God dictated it to dozens, maybe hundreds, of different writers, each of whom wrote and modified stories using different patterns of language over a period of centuries.

Well, duh! It says that IN the Bible. There was no Washington Post around in 400 BC.
